Best Foods

When this journey to more healthful eating started back in October, I made this list of the best foods I can eat and posted it on my refrigerator. I try to eat at least two foods from it daily (one from this column, one from that) and it often is the starting point for many of my recipes. The caretakers for our kids also use this as the basis for the kids’ lunch and dinner. We encourage them to try at least one new food daily…and this list helps a LOT. (Text copied below)

This list was compiled from a LOT of sources…I can’t even start to remember from where each item came. But assume places like the Mayo Clinic and Prevention Magazine, a nutritionist here and there, Dr. Perricone, etc. I basically just did a search for “super foods” and tried to pull the things that were applicable to my family (obviously eliminating the things we can’t eat like coconut).
